She Said, Let Us Find Them Together

Once the game was far enough along, I had Iris play it.

She played the Full mode, the desktop board with 144 tiles and 36 kinds of pictures.

She could not clear it.

There were too many tiles. A whole field of pictures spread across the screen, and picking out two that matched and could actually be connected was too much for her. She got stuck.

Then she said:

Let us find them together, Dad.

Looking Together Beats Looking Alone

Two people looking at the same screen changes things.

Playing alone is scanning: quiet, focused, a little lonely. Two people talk while they play. There is one here. That pair can go. And when you find it, you both call it out at the same time.

It stopped being a single player game and became something a father and daughter do together.
